The Advenuture Continues...Amsterdam!! (By Julia)

Here is Julia's account of their trip to Amsterdam...pictures coming when I get home.

We started off our 24 hours in Amsterdam with a quick two hour plane ride. We had lunch at the airport where I had a delicious salmon sandwich. We checked into our very modern hotel (especially compared to the ancient buildings we have been around for the past two months!) Then we went to the Van Gogh museum. The line wasn't as bad as expected but we only had one hour to look around. All of his paintings were beautiful but Rachel and I kept pointing to paintings and saying that those were are favorite and then realizing that they weren't done by Van Gogh! Afterwards we went to Anne Frank’s House. The line there was much longer so Rachel and I played a game of war in line while dad sat down on a nearby bench. The museum and her house were very well done. All of the stories, Anne’s and others, were really heartbreaking but it was amazing to see where she lived especially after reading the
play in English last year. It also had a cool room where there was a video playing that showed the pros and cons of different world issues and then the people in the room got to vote on them. After that we went to dinner. The food was delicious but only after did we realize we had come all the way to Holland just to eat at an Italian restaurant!

The next morning we woke up at 8 to go to the fitness room. Rachel was still feeling sick so she sat in a comfy chair and read while dad and I exercised! Then we went to breakfast which was fantastic where we had our first original Dutch food- Dutch pancakes. We packed up our stuff and then walked the five minute walk to the airport from our hotel. We found the Dutch Harry Potter there for my new collection of Harry Potter’s in different languages. We also got some stroopwaffles. After that we got on our plane to head on home!
